People say the forest swallowed them, then spat them back out when someone speaks the right word.<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Dungeons<\/strong>, instead, are&nbsp;<strong>places that remember<\/strong>. Stepping inside is like putting your foot into an ancient tale\u2026 and finding out that the fairy tale, sometimes, bites.<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the past few months, we\u2019ve talked a lot about the forest that gives life to Among The Trolls. but it won\u2019t be the only place you\u2019ll get to explore.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scattered across the archipelago are ancient structures resembling portals &#8211; gates leading to dungeons you\u2019ll need the courage to face if you want to uncover what truly brought you here.&nbsp;<em>Places&nbsp;<\/em>with weight, ritual, and personality.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Gates engraved in the Kynnykset<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Among birches and lichens, you may catch sight of solitary arches made of ancient stone, marked by a symbol Anna has the unsettling feeling she\u2019s seen somewhere before.&nbsp;<em>Where<\/em>, is a question only you will be able to answer. These structures &#8211; almost out of place &#8211; are the&nbsp;<strong>portals<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They are not carved into the rock, nor rooted in the earth. They stand in a place called kynnykset, the Threshold. It was the tiet\u00e4j\u00e4t &#8211; the shamanic keepers of these islands &#8211; who forged them with arts few still remember.<br><br><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/clan.akamai.steamstatic.com\/images\/\/42400298\/dab2532bd500267a36668c408d185c2a81f1aecf.gif\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of these portals lead very far away, others to places that demand careful preparation. You\u2019ll be called to uncover why they exist &#8211; and, above all, what they protect. Just keep in mind that the Threshold does not forgive those who cross it carelessly.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you\u2019ve located them, opening these gates will require&nbsp;<strong>Portal Pages<\/strong>. Think of them as pages bound to a destination\u2026 and to its \u201cword.\u201d By using them, you\u2019ll open true&nbsp;<em>passages&nbsp;<\/em>into&nbsp;<strong>Dungeons<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Dungeons, places with their own story<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ve designed dungeons as places with a distinct identity, each telling a specific story. Without major spoilers, one thing is certain:&nbsp;<strong>they are not all the same<\/strong>. Some will be shrouded in mystery; in others, you\u2019ll feel constant tension and be forced to find a way to survive; and some will feel like&nbsp;<em>places someone truly used<\/em>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/clan.akamai.steamstatic.com\/images\/\/42400298\/6f1e8a2d66d94c69d227b33f9efba0df6c0d67ef.gif\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you\u2019ve completed their exploration, you\u2019ll be faced with two options:&nbsp;<strong>return to the same place where you entered<\/strong>, or&nbsp;<strong>emerge somewhere else<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the exit leads elsewhere, one of our favorite ideas comes into play: an alternate way out &#8211; a stone opening, a \u201cdifferent\u201d fissure, a passage that feels like it has been waiting for you forever. But even here, exits aren\u2019t always immediately usable.
